In partnership with MakanBersama, with the support of Quantedge Foundation, students immerse themselves in the neighbourhood of Hougang, building relationships with community residents who live in rental blocks through monthly dinners, and weekly Play Activations. Through various ways of developing communities, the students show how design can break barriers and bridge connections.

In collaboration with the Eye Clinic and Office of Sustainability of the National University Health System, the students dive deep into making sense of the insights from the sentiments and attitudes of patients and healthcare staff towards sustainable practices in everyday medical practice. Through ethnographic research and scientific questionnaires, their research uncovers the gaps and design challenges in social and ecological sustainability within a healthcare ecosystem.

This research track aims to shift mindsets and design new ways of strengthening community ownership and agency in shaping health and well-being. Working with various communities and stakeholders in Yishun, Sembawang and Toa Payoh, the students design conversations and community programmes to uncover local assets and new perspectives that inform community resilience and the social determinants of health.
